Permanent Diaconate

Are you being called?

Today, in order to carry out the new evangelisation, the Church urgently needs good and holy men, full of youthful zeal and energy, willing to consecrate themselves to the Lord’s service as deacons.

There are certain basic requirements for this. For instance, an applicant should be a man of prayer, full of faith with a keen sense of God’s call, in full communion with the Catholic Church and an active member of his parish. He should be of sound physical and mental health, able to relate well to and collaborate effectively with others. Applicants may be single or married. If single, he must be prepared to embrace a promise of celibacy; if married, he must be no less than 30 years of age and have the explicit consent of his wife. Moreover, an applicant should have some basic educational qualifications, a varied life experience, discernible leadership qualities with a range of human and professional skills including IT, and a genuine desire to undertake a course of study.
