Passing on the Faith 2008
Welcome to the Archdiocese of Birmingham Family Life Website. This has been launched to accompany a three year programme called “Celebrating Family” set up by the Bishops of England and Wales in response to the findings of “Listening 2004: My Family, My Church” to enhance the support that the Church offers to families in helping them to live out and hand on their Catholic faith.
That’s something that can be demanding and challenging, especially in today’s society, but now as ever it is something that can also be uniquely rewarding and satisfying.
The theme for this year is “Passing on the Faith”.
The third stage is a plan of collaborative family centered action to help parents and grandparents to pass on faith in God:
1. To provide more support, tools and resources.
2. To respect the role of the family and to see how this fits with the roles of school and parish.
3. To provide comfort and healing where necessary.
Are you supporting parents as first teachers of their children in the faith in your parish or school?
We are looking for examples and stories of good practice (ideas, experiences, processes, resources etc) from around the diocese: From your homes, parishes and schools.
Please help us to identify work that may help others in supporting parents and grandparents to pass on the faith in God to the next generation.

This website will provide you with ideas and resources: some from the national team at the Bishops’ Conference who are co-ordinating the programme, some more local from parishes very much like your own. That’s why we would like to hear from you. On this site you will find a message board. Please use it to let people know what’s happening in your parish, and to pick up some good ideas from others.
Please keep coming back to the site. It will be developing as the year goes by and constantly getting updated with news, events and resources. Much of that will depend on people like you who sharing good ideas with others.
