Once you have been accepted by the Archbishop as a candidate for the priesthood of the diocese, you will begin your period of formation in a college called a seminary. The period of formation will take from four to seven years depending on your age and background. Most of our students begin with a foundational year at the Royal English College at Valladolid in Spain, after which they will go either to Oscott College, the diocesan seminary, or to one of the two English seminaries in Rome - the Beda College and the Venerable English College.
Seminary life is full and varied. Alongside the times of prayer and study you will engage in pastoral work in the local community and also take responsibilities within the college itself. There will also be important times for relaxation and recreation, and all within a community of mutual support and encouragement which often gives rise to lifelong friendships.
