Oscott College is the Seminary of the Archdiocese of Birmingham. Occassionally the seminary opens it’s doors to allow youngsters to visit this magnificent building, meet and spend time with the students training for the priesthood whilst providing a fun day out at the same time.
In 2007, primary school pupils from 25 schools around the diocese experienced this initiative.
The day involves an interactive “treasure hunt” style tour in which pupils have to solve a series of clues that lead them around areas within the college. Pupils met and mixed with seminarians training for the priesthood from all over the country. Mass was celebrated and a jovial lunch was enjoyed.
The day is an educational experience in which pupils gain knowledge relating to history, vocation and seminary life.
The initiative is offered to primary schools each year, and if you would like to book a visit, please contact Gerard Boylan at Oscott College on 0121 321 5069.
