Primary Schools

Interactive visits

As part of our work at the Vocations Centre, we offer primary schools the opportunity to book a Vocations  Interactive Presentation for their Yr6 class.

This presentation would form part of the children’s learning in the diocesan RE scheme for Yr6.  It is also an excellent opportunity for the children to start thinking about their Confirmation.

The presentation covers:

•Different aspects of Vocation, its meaning, areas of Vocation and the part played by Vocation in the Catholic community, emphasising the call of all the children in Baptism.

•It links strongly with the Sacrament of Confirmation by looking at elements such as the Oil of Chrism, choosing a Saints name, becoming an adult member of the Church, receiving the Holy Spirit and developing a closer personal relationship with God.

•The presentation looks at discipleship and the building of the Catholic Church.

•It looks at the priesthood, the role of priests, where they are trained and shows examples of students training.

•The presentation ends with an open time for questions about the Vocations of priesthood and consecrated life, with the involvement of your local parish priest or school chaplain.

“The children found the presentation very informative and it supported the Confirmation programme followed in school. I would recommend the presentation to other schools and look forward to participating in the programme again in the future.”
