My name is Thai Quoc Nguyen, I am 28 years old, I was born in to a good catholic family. I am from Vietnam. I came to England through sponsorship from the Archbishop of Birmingham in September 2005. Before I started studying at Oscott College, I stayed at pre-seminary college in Vietnam for about 6 years.

I was introduced to the idea of following a vocation when I was a child and when I got older I recognised that the life of a priest was very wonderful through the inspiring lives I witnessed in Vietnam . The reason why I chose the priesthood was because the model of the parish priest displays holiness and Morality. The priests always help people in spiritual life. Moreover, the priest can work in society. These reasons always stayed in my mind.

The life at Oscott College is very wonderful. The staff and students are very friendly. However, I am still homesick, so I need all the people to encourage, support and pray for me in the future.
