"Hello my name is Alex. I am from Burton on Trent in the north east of the diocese. Before arriving at seminary I worked for 4 ½ years in my home town at a food factory on shifts. I discovered in this time the fullness of faith and, subsequently, that the Lord calls many different types of people into His harvest, all with different abilities - but all in discerning the Lord’s will in life.
What I believe to have heightened my secondary vocational calling was indeed working everyday with normal people, with normal everyday problems, with its joys and challenges. I also see that my involvement with the parish St. Vincent de Paul Society visiting the sick, becoming conference treasurer and opportunities for communal prayer, have allowed the Lord into my life in a way I never expected. I was delighted to be accepted by Archbishop Bernard on the recommendation of the selection panel in Eastertide of 2013 – the Holy Spirit is always full of surprises and has a strange sense of humour! I, along with Benedict and Sean have been in Valladolid at the English College that provides a course called the propaedeutic year. It has been a blessing and has confirmed me in my vocational journey.." |
