Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent
I belong to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent. This has been my parish ever since I was born. My wife is Bobbie, who looks after our 6 children (5 still at home) whilst I work full time as a Commercial Manager seconded to Network Rail.
I attended a Salesian Missionary College, a type of junior seminary, for my secondary education and then after obtaining a degree in Quantity Surveying, worked on the Missions in Liberia with the Salesians as a lay volunteer. Yes, I thought about being a priest in my early teenage years but discerned the priesthood was not God's calling for me.
My uncle has been a deacon in our parish for 20 years and hence I received a prompt through him for me to discern a vocation to the Permanent Diaconate. I am now a 4th year, a Lector and Acolyte and - God willing - ordination could be this year. Hence, my diaconate ministry could well start very soon.
Keep me in your prayers. Blessings.
